Very unimpressed. I bought a pair of cycling sunglasses from Dual Eyewear Australia on 13 January 2018, hoping to get them in time to use next week on my cycling trip. I paid an extra $6 for "Express Delivery (1-2 Business Days)". Six days later and they haven't turned up in time so I can't take them with me and they've not even deigned to reply to the 2 messages I've sent them via their website. I'll go elsewhere next time and suggest you do too.

satisfactory resolution

I'm happy to acknowledge that everything has now been sorted out, largely thanks to the assistance of Sally, the bookkeeper at MBC. It turns out that the problem was compounded at Shimano's end also. The kit I ordered has now been fitted to the bike, and they were even kind enough to refund my money!

"a pretty good deal"

... such excitement! A parcel in the mail, forwarded to me from the Melbourne Bicycle Centre, arrived today with a Shimano part inside. The envelope had been sent to the Melbourne Bicycle Centre from Shimano and then re-posted on to me (I assume from the rather ungracious arrival of the part in question that they expect me to fit it myself). Inside the envelope was a copy of my original docket and a handwritten note on it saying: "I think we gave you a pretty good deal." Well, as it happens I think that is true - I was given a good price for the bike, rack & computer wire kit - it was a little cheaper than I was quoted at another bike shop in nearby Fitzroy for the same bike. But that has never been my complaint. Does being given "a pretty good deal" mean that I should then have to wait an excessively long period before the deal is finally completed?

Oh ... and they've sent me the wrong part! I did telephone the shop however and a seemingly helpful fellow has undertaken to try and sort this out ...

... still no action from the Melbourne Bicycle Centre

In 10 days time it will be 3 MONTHS since I ordered the 'bracket kit' from the Melbourne Bicycle Centre in Clifton Hill, VIC, Australia. I telephoned the helpful Mr Greg Chalberg from Shimano today; he confirmed that the part is in stock & that it's a simple matter of ordering "from any bike shop in Australia." I'd amend that a little to "any bike shop EXCEPT for the Melbourne Bicycle Centre." In the past week, since I first started this weblog & emailled the Melbourne Bicycle Centre, I have received one brief 3 line response about "my case" - but STILL NO ACTION!

I had hoped that a posting to the Not Good Enough website might have prompted them a little, but no such luck. I'm unfortunately reaching the conclusion that I'll need to lodge a complaint with Consumer Affairs Victoria.

... but no response at all from Melbourne Bicycle Centre

hmmm... well, 3 working days have elapsed & there's been no response at all to the 2 emails I've sent the Melbourne Bicycle Centre in Clifton Hill. How to interpet this? Incompetence ... cavalier disregard? It really is most unsatisfactory. However, it has now become clear to me where the problem lies.

very quick response from Shimano

well, Shimano has responded very promptly to my email ... let's see what Melbourne Bicycle Centre has to say ... (I've forwarded the Shimano email, see below, on to them)

Dear David,
Replacement bracket kits are available for PRO computers. I would suggest identifying which computer you have, because the bracket kits are different for the PRO Digi-W series (part number PR100702) and the PRO Pace-WR (part number PR100706). Both parts have been in stock continuously for all of 2008. and may be ordered through any bike shop in Australia. This should be a simple process. The parts are in stock and ready to go. Hope this info is helpful. Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions. Regards,

Greg

oh dear ... another instance of draggin' on. Over 2 months ago (on 17.4.08 to be precise) I bought a new touring bike from the Melbourne Bicycle Centre in Clifton Hill, Victoria - a Surly Long Haul Trucker - an excellent bike. As I already have a road bike, fitted with a bike computer - a Shimano Digi-Pace-WR (wireless) - I thought why not just buy the wireless kit and not the dashboard as I already had this and it allows settings for two different bikes. Smart move I thought ....

Over 2 months later, and despite having paid for it, it's still not arrived (well, one did arrive but it got lost somewhere in the shop and then another one did but it was the wrong one ...). It is taking rather a long time!
